No one we expected!
A fantastic turn of events. No one. NO ONE, who was in the casting lead for The Guardians of the Galaxy has been chosen for Star Lord. Instead, someone out of left field has been picked and I think Marvel and James Gunn have made a great choice.
Chris Pratt will don the helmet and duel guns and lead a band of misfit heroes as they patrol the galaxy and possibly fight Thanos. Pratt is best known as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation, but has been in the process of being a break out star for the last few years now. He currently can be seen in Zero Dark Thirty. He was great in The 5 Year Engagement and was excellent in Moneyball. His comic timing and his ability to be a serious actor give him a damn good advantage in what is sure to be one of Marvel’s ballsiest films.
James Gunn is heading to London to start production. No word on other casting, as Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax have yet to be cast. But if we’re hearing about Pratt, I suspect we’ll be hearing the rest of the cast within the week.
