Stand alone STAR WARS films are a reality

Get ready for a feast of tales from a galaxy far far away.

Before JJ Abrams was announced as the director of Star Wars Episode VII, there was a story going around that Zack Snyder was working on a Seven Samurai style Jedi film.  While Snyder and Disney denied the film at the time, there might have been a whole lot of truth in the story.

Bob Igar, CEO of Walt Disney, confirmed that Disney is going full bore in exploiting their 4 billion dollar purchase.  While Abrams will be handling the first film of the new trilogy, there will be spin off films in between that new trilogy.  Yoda, Bobba Fett, Darth Maul and a few others are in talks to star in their own films.  These films are the what Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan are writing.

Ok, so here’s what we got.  New trilogy film from Abrams in 2015/16 a year after that a spin off film, break maybe, and next trilogy film.  Wash, rise, repeat.  That’s fine with me.  This is what I was hoping Disney would do with Star Wars.  Stand alone films give other talented filmmakers chances at the universe with out the baggage of the central story.  I would like it though if they try something akin to the Snyder Jedi Samurai film.  Something original with new characters every now and then would be nice if we’re getting movies based on guys who’ve already been in films.

First film I want, is this:
